Ahoy There
THE CASSIOPEIA PROJECT
The burgalery and near sinking
They came on board at night and must have had plenty of time as they found about everything and trashed her and inadvertently disabled the bilge pump so she nearly sank. It was a sad moment for Cassi!
The pump that saved her thanks to the men that plumbed it up!!!!!
They really trashed the aft cabin. That's where they found the GPSs. They dumped out all of my files and went through all of my pictures and all of my drawers. They took a small bag of pearls left over from the Tuamotos and my barely working video camera and a bunch of coins collected from panama and Costa Rica and all over. They took spare speakers and motorcycle helmets and foul weather gear, tons of snorkel gear and the mattress off the aft cabin bunk along with all the settee cushions and my cast iron skillet and most of my knives, they took jumpers and all of my towels, The took my 1200watt generator and a big spare anchor and all of her ropes, and all my jerry cans for fuel and water the inverter for my tools they took my flashlights and kerosine lanterns. Pictures of girlfriends strewn about and love letters opened. It is such an invasive thing.
Engine swamped, batteries swamped, table saw, drop saw, grinders, drills, routers, mechanic tools, swamped, the electrical tool box, all of the spare engine parts and gasket kits and wire rigging, and electric pumps and collections of bolts and screws and springs, swamped, all of the paint and brushes and sandpaper and dust mask and fiberglass matt, swamped, spare provisions ruined and pots and pans swamped and rusty, all of my photo albums swamped. On and on for those who know her you can imagine how much precious stuff/"junk" went under.
Down below was trashed................
I still have power tools in buckets of fresh water waiting to be revived. I am still drying out spare parts.
THE GOOD NEWS !!!!!!! For those of you who know me I have done something unprecedented in the history of Cassiopeia and I. I have thrown a lot of things away!!!! Imagine me turning my head away when a friend ask,"Is this rubbish?" and then replying "Yes." without even looking!
where the stove used to be...........
Yes indeed the water line has come up and and lots of drying out has finally been accomplished. The deck is nearly cleared of the piles of nuts and bolts and bits and parts that were enjoying the rain rinsing them off.
Yeah for Us !!!!!!
and yesterday I went to the police station and jumped up and down and ranted and raved and today they actually finally came by the boat and acted like they were gong to look around for Cassi's gear!
Sweet, I really want my stove back!
where the stereo used to be
where the tv used to be.......
One day maybe I will catch the crooks while cruising the islands!
But for now I am just getting on with it.
The only way is FORWARD!
